The Volvo FL is Volvo’s medium-duty truck with a gross vehicle weight of up to 19 tonnes. Already available with many cab and chassis options, the Volvo FL’s versatility is now increasing further regarding engines with the 320hp engine added to the range. This makes the Volvo FL an even more attractive choice for demanding assignments such as efficient firefighting, rescue operations and construction.
“This truck model is already very popular thanks to its versatility for urban assignments. Now we are making it even more attractive due to the new, stronger engine which gives the driver additional torque, when needed. This means it can also efficiently operate superstructures such as large pumps and cranes on rescue vehicles,” says Kenneth Ackerberg, Product Manager at Volvo Trucks.
The new 320hp engine also offers benefits for regional distribution tasks that may need more horsepower due to demanding topography. Using the 8-speed automatic gearbox, designed for a torque of 1200 Nm, drive modes can be set to focus on economy or performance, as preferred by the driver.
Key benefits of the Volvo FL include spacious cabs, excellent visibility and fully automatic transmissions. The efficient combustion and exhaust filtration system with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) technology contribute to low fuel consumption, long service intervals and very low emissions.
Both the D8K320 (as of December this year) and D5K240 engines are available in versions designed to run on pure biodiesel (B100). The eight-litre engine is available for gross weights from 12 to 19 tonnes and the five-litre engine from 10 to 16 tonnes.
